The New York Anime Festival was this weekend! And I had an absolute blast. Brad Swaile is my soulmate and Rie Tanaka is the cutest thing ever. And I only got TWO THINGS FROM THE WHOLE CON. Omfg go me.
DAY ONE
This was the day Megumi was there, so I WAS EXCITED. :D I met up with her and Shuichi in the morning, and we went to go get ready and change and stuff. On the way, this guy was like "OMG RYUUTAROS" at Shuichi since she was cosplaying him. And he wound up hanging with us through a lot of the con - cosplaying Den-O himself on Saturday and adorable geekery occured.
Our first panel was the Bandai panel. Which was ... pretty much the same panel they had at AX. Not much on the new front there. We hit up the dealer room after that. The con as a whole was a real step up from last year. Since I think last year might have been their first? More people, more interesting events and panels, and more good things in the dealer room.
THEN we got on line to get tickets for Brad Swaile's signing. I GEEKED A LOT mostly because he was Dearka's dub so I was all 8D 8D 8D!!! He had these huge G00 posters that he signed for said ticket-holders. And oh my god. This man is such an adorable ... DORK. He just seemed like he was having SO MUCH FUN WITH EVERYTHING. He had STAMPS that he added to his autograph and on the G00 posters he drew a little picture of Setsuna on it. IT TOOK SO LONG but oh my god, it was an awesome trade just to see someone like him be so ... JOY-RADIATING ABOUT THIS WHOLE THING.
Megumi did my makeup at some point when we got food. In cosplay, so we have Soma doing Yzak's makeup. WE'RE SO IN CHARACTER. We also took cute pictures together.
The G00 panel was more of a Brad and Gundam in general but more tilted toward 00 panel. It was fucking amazing though. HE SAID "I AM GUNDAM." And talked about his other roles in Gundam series and how THEY WOULD NEVER BE WITHOUT HIM WHEN IT CAME TO GUNDAM because he's been in so many. Did the crazy Quatre laugh and compared it to a horse. ... and then did a horse impression and laugh for a comparison. Said a gay line from canon as Quatre talking to Trowa and ... growled sexily at the end of it oh my god. Talked about Amuro too and how Zeta (I think) was >( because they didn't recast him for Amuro. But talked about having an Amuro voice-off thing with the other guy at a con so it was okay.
AND THEN THEN THEN THE SEED PART ABOUT BEING DEARKA sdkl;dasg. HAHAHAHA. Okay he says "They told me 'do you remember what you did for Quatre and Amuro? Well, we want to take that ... and do the opposite.'" And then he said Dearka's whole first line from the first episode and oh my god. OH MY GOD I WAS GEEKING SO HARD AT IT. "Great. Update activated, nerve-links reconstructed, callibration set. It'll move." sdklfjaskldfjaslk omg be still my geeking heart. And then he talked about being given Auel in Destiny - "here you can voice this guy too!" I was so tempted to yell out "MOTHER."
When the guys tried to put on the G00 trailer, they were having audio troubles so Brad ... makes his own up for it while they tried to fix it. Which resulted in things like "MY EXIA IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!!!" and going "okay no I'm not doing this for her" when some female came up on the screen. Even though he made Sumeragi say "where is Setsuna he's the best" after that. XD
IN SHORT. Brad Swaile is a huge adorable dork who has way too much fun with what he is doing which I APPROVE OF SO HARD. Therefore I want to marry him.
After that was the G00 screening of the first two eps. They were very awesome! The "loser" line Haro says to Lockon was "sucks to be you!" which is ... just as fabulous.
I THINK THAT WAS ALL FOR DAY ONE. After that we went to Pell's house where we had a Rikuou, Kizna, Chicken and Rui waiting for us. Pell made DELICIOUS FOODS WHICH I LOVED VERY MUCH (thank you so much again for just being an awesome host and making delicious food and always being so awesome) and Megumi brought donuts for everyone. We chilled out and had a ton of fun. :D
DAY TWO
Gundam SEED screening HELL YEAH. I love how (I mean, I was in cosplay anyway but) when people who I don't know are like "YZAK" I just. Auto go WHAT. They were calling to me but ... yes. That is like my ping closer to a name than anything.
THE SPOILER PANEL. Which was amazing last year was even better this year. The guys who run that panel are hilarious and oh my god I never wanted it to end. They talked about so many series - spoilers obvs but just also poking that ever-loved-by-me fun at them. They also Rick Rolled us in the middle of it. And then we all stood up and started dancing and signing along to it. Rick Roll has no effect on me, I actually LOVE BEING RICK ROLLED NOW because it gives me an excuse to ... sing and dance.
They also had a random emo character list at the end and showed them all as they listed them off. XD Kira was one of them (I geeked!). After the panel, one girl saw me and went "you weren't on that list!" and we decided Yzak would be on an "angry bitchy" character list.
We also met up with Angie at the con! =D Which was awesome, so we saw a lot of her that night and the next day. She is so sweet and such a blast to hang out with. ♥!!
The Fanfiction panel was run by those same guys, so it was amazingly epic. Except for the part where the one guy who I thought was cute was talking about sexuality in fic and stuff and randomly added "YEAH AND I'M GAY, SO etc etc" and I was like :(!! ALL THE CUTE ONES MAN... It was an interesting panel, and so much MORE interesting because it was them running it. It was also hilarious and at times very blunt which was the best part. Because when it came to self inserts, it was like "AND WELL. NOBODY REALLY THINKS YOU'RE THAT INTERESTING AS IT IS, SO..."
Zombie Survival panel! Where I let my not-so-inner Resident Evil geek run free. One guy was asking me about RE5 before it started, so I rambled. Cannot wait until March. The panel was fun! They made us all lose the game in the middle of it. And I yelled out "HE'S CUTE" when they showed a picture of a zombie like "this is what one looks like."
Went back to Pelly's after that. We watched some Pushing Daisies which I wanna watch now because it was awesome from what I saw. Flopped around on people. Also watched hilarious MatsuJun and ARASHI videos that morning before we had gone to the con. XD
DAY THREE
and mostly She is the most adorable person ever. I took my Haro with me to the panel. There were a couple of other SEED cosplayers! Lacus, Athrun (I also saw two Kiras during the con. :3) I geeked at a Cagalli and got her DA account. We also went on an adventure together after the panel.
But yes, the panel was a lot of talk and Q&A about her various characters. She talked about Lacus and her emotions. How it was kind of hard for her because she doesn't project them forwardly all the time, so most of the time it was more of her gentle side being dominant, and how that comes into how she acted later. Talked about her work in video games too, and voicing for LARGE FRANCHISES which made me laugh because of all of the SEED side-stuff and the GAMES and the SRW crossovers that all have voiceovers in them. XD She had a pink Haro too! And someone in the audience gave her a Lacus plushie she had found at the con. There were sadly no more there though - that was what me and Cagalli cosplayer ventured to look for after the panel. XD She is also a video game addict, she confessed.
And and and then someone asked her to sing a little bit of Shizukana Yoru Ni. *_______* AND AAAAH IT WAS SO NICE and I am so easily ... set off to geek-mode when it comes to SEED (as you can clearly see in like this whole post I'm sure) SO THE WHOLE CON WAS AMAZING and oh man. Rie made my day and I got to meet two SEED-related voice actors and so many people took pictures of me and a couple of them talked a little too and the screenings (enter SEED geekmode again). A couple of guys on line for something yelled something about Kira to me, too. SOB.
AND I THINK THAT IS IT. Or all i can remember off the top of my head. I can be stabbed in the comments and reminded of anything epic I may have missed.
I forget who was there when I had mentioned this at AX. But these figures were at a stand, and I think during AX they were not for sale yet, but about to be premiered so they had them on display there. Red is my favorite character from FF ever and a long time favorite in general, and the figure is BEAUTIFUL. It is also big, which is a plus and made it worth the money. So since AX I have wanted this figure, and when I saw it at the Kino stand I was like FUCK. SOLD.
Shuichi saw this in a pile at one stand. I don't think I need to explain why I couldn't not buy it from the cover alone.
And possibly more pictures will come later since I TOOK NOTHING. Everyone else was taking the pictures for this con. XD

The con was so much fun, and I'm really glad I made the trip after all. You guys were all awesome, and geeking out in cosplay was the best thing ever \o/ I'll post the pictures as soon as possible.
